Dr. Joanna Kurman, DDS
Born and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Joanna Kurman embarked on her journey in dentistry after earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University. Her dedication to advancing dental science led her to spend a year conducting innovative research in salivary diagnostics at NYU College of Dentistry, where she presented her findings at the prestigious Greater New York Dental Meeting.
Dr. Kurman completed her comprehensive dental training at NYU College of Dentistry, followed by a specialized General Practice Residency at the Manhattan VA Hospital with a focus on prosthodontics. Her commitment to excellence in dentistry drove her to pursue an additional year-long fellowship in cosmetic and restorative dentistry at NYU College of Dentistry, further honing her expertise in aesthetic dental care.
Her extensive experience working with veterans at the Manhattan VA Hospital has uniquely positioned Dr. Kurman to provide exceptional care for patients experiencing dental anxiety or treatment apprehension. Her gentle approach, combined with deep empathy and genuine compassion, enables her to forge strong, trusting relationships with her patients, ensuring comfortable and positive dental experiences.
Throughout her career, Dr. Kurman has practiced dentistry across multiple states, including New Jersey, New York, and Colorado, gathering diverse experience and expertise in various dental environments. Effective February 2025, she has acquired the established Sculpted Smiles Dental practice from Dr. Stanley Yeager in Montville, where she is excited to continue the practice’s tradition of excellence while implementing her own innovative approaches to dental care.
As a testament to her commitment to the community, Dr. Kurman, along with her husband Steve, has established roots back in northern NJ. When not providing exceptional dental care, she finds joy in the active pursuit of keeping up with her energetic twin toddler boys and her beloved dog, Amos. She looks forward with great enthusiasm for becoming an integral part of the Montville community.
Dr. Stanley Yeager, DMD
Dr. Stanley Yeager earned his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University in 1969, followed by his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Hackensack, New Jersey, in 1973. A resident of Montville since 1976, he relocated his practice from Newark to serve his community in 1986. Dr Yaeger recently passed the baton of this successful practice to Dr. Joanna Kurman and Dr. Yaeger will remain with the practice to treat patients. The practice name “Sculpted Smiles” reflected Dr. Yeager’s unique integration of artistry and dentistry. As an accomplished figurative sculptor with a deep appreciation for art, he brings his artistic sensibility to the practice, particularly in aesthetic procedures. His artistic background enhances his approach to cosmetic dentistry, allowing him to create natural-looking, beautiful results. Dr. Yeager specializes in preventative and aesthetic dentistry, with particular expertise in porcelain laminate veneers, direct bonding, crowns, and permanent bridge work. Committed to staying at the forefront of dental advances, Dr. Yeager regularly pursues continuing education to provide his patients with the most current and conservative techniques available. Beyond his dental practice, Dr. Yeager has diverse interests including art appreciation, sculpting, and music.
Lisa Brewer
Hello, my name is Lisa Brewer, and I’ve been part of the Sculpted Smiles team for the past four years. As the Office Manager, I oversee scheduling, billing, and insurance—but the part I enjoy most is welcoming our patients and making them feel at home.
I began my career in dentistry as a dental assistant, later earning my X-ray certification. From there, I transitioned into financial insurance coordination and continued my education by earning certification in dental management (CPDMA).
Outside of work, I love listening to music and going to concerts, playing Mah Jongg, and spending as much time as possible with my grandchildren.
Lisa Mol
Lisa Mol’s passion for preventive dental care was pursued shortly after obtaining her
Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a Minor in Economics. She
became a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2007, and shortly after, found a home at
Sculpted Smiles in Montville, NJ. For the past 18 years she has shown exceptional
care for her patients, which has resulted in building lasting relationships. She loves
interacting with each patient, making them feel comfortable throughout their dental visit.
At Sculpted Smiles, she was able to incorporate the latest state of the art technology
and equipment to facilitate the best standard of care. When not at work, she and her
husband enjoy spending time together and raising their three children.
Mieczyslawa Sondej
Many of my patients know me as Mimi. I graduated from the BCC Dental Hygiene program in 2011, and since then, caring for patients’ oral health has truly become my passion. I believe that overall well-being begins with a healthy mouth, and my goal is to provide the highest level of personalized care through both education and clinical service. Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors—whether it’s biking, skiing, or riding ATVs. When I’m looking to relax and unwind, you’ll often find me gardening or getting lost in a good novel.
